CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS:

Effective Nov. 1, 2011, we will no longer be accepting credit cards. Our contract with our service provider has been terminated, due to the fact that they are now defacto agents for the IRS. Although this will undoubtedly knock our sales into the creek, it's better to have your sales there than your principles. It's high time we all stopped these intrusions into every aspect of our privacy. Stop flying! Use cash! Boycott those who snoop! Refuse to comply!

Although this will be an inconvenience for most of you, I hope you will understand the reasoning behind it, and continue to shop with us.

For those interested, here's a link to their info page: https://www.globalpay.com/pcidss/tin/tin_promocode.aspx

REWARDS CARDS:

For those of you using, or considering using, rewards cards, such as are now being proliferated by the banks, I have a word of caution.

THERE AIN'T NO FREE LUNCH!!

When you use a rewards card, and the money "just magically appears in your account", as advertised on TV, you have to realize that the reward money has to come from somewhere. Where does it come from? It certainly doesn't come form Visa, MasterCard, etc. When you use a rewards card, your merchant is charged the additional amount for the reward. Therefore, if your purchase nets you a 5% reward, your merchant takes a 5% hit on that purchase. When this occurs often enough, the merchant will have to raise his prices to offset the loss. So your goods go up. You purchase more, receiving 5%. The merchant is again discounted 5% of the new price. Soon, prices go up again. And so it goes . . . . Can you spell inflationary? Think about it. When enough people use rewards cards, prices will go up for everybody, not just a few. The total economy will eventually be effected.

So, who gains? The buyers? No. The merchants? No. The banks? BINGO!

PRICES, IN GENERAL:

Unless you've been living on a remote island somewhere, you've undoubtedly noticed the price of most everything going up. Why is this? It's because the dollar (funny money) has been depreciating, due to the increase in the money supply by the unlawful Federal Reserve. As they pump money into the system, via loans, they create instant debt for something that doesn't exist (funny money), and your buying power goes down simultaneously. To service the debt, they charge interest to both the gov't, and to private parties. For something that doesn't exist, mind you. Private parties pay the interest directly, while the gov't. puts the burden of the initial debt, plus the servicing of that debt (interest) upon it's only handy source of revenue, the taxpayers.

So the net result is, that while your buying power is going down, the gov't. is raising your taxes, taking even more of your buying power away, all to service the banking cartel.

So . . . . Are prices going Up? Or is your dollar going down?

COTTON PRICES:

Prices for cotton goods have gone through the roof lately. We're currently testing making manties & rain flys out of the PVC coated nylon material we have to reduce cost. The only drawback is, that the manties will have seams, instead of being smooth & seamless. We're playing around with adhesive bonding the panels to keep the seam profiles minimal, & to keep the seams water tight. More on this later.

THE MUSTANG ROLL:

I'm trying a new trimming technique on my critters this spring. In essence, it's a natural trimming method that emulates the way a mustang's hooves wear naturally. It allows the frog to contact the ground, improving circulation and stimulation in the hoof/pastern area. It also allows for natural flexation of the hoof during motion, which is inhibited by a hard shoe. There are a couple of folks already doing this professionally. I've added links to their websites on our links page.

MUSTANG ROLL UPDATE:

Well, I'm impressed! My mules hooves have never been this good in the spring. Once the nail holes grew out, things really improved. Not as much flare as usual, healthy frogs, & no quarter cracks or rock chips. Plus, you don't have to stock supplies. I did have to invest in a disk grinder though. I use it with a 50 grit 4 1/2 inch sanding disk to form the roll. My ol' back gets tired enough anymore when underneath a mule. The grinder reduced about 20 minutes of rasping to about 3-5 minutes of sanding. Looks better too.

SALAD OIL:

You might consider adding salad oil to your feed in the spring and summer months. I mix 1/3 cider vinegar and 2/3 corn oil together and dollop about 1/2 cup over their feed every chance I get. They might turn up their noses at first, but soon, they're gobbling it up. Salad oil conditions the coats, improves digestion, and helps control dung flies and other manure born insects. If you're lookin' for a fairly cheap and natural solution to any of the above problems, this'll work. Besides, if you have unexpected guests, you can always make a large salad and run out to the barn and grab the jug.

We've added more styles of cinches. We can also order any style that isn't a stock item. Just give us a call & we'll get your cinch made.

Walls stirrups are being closed out. Availability will be limited to stock on hand. The remaining stock has been discounted for clearance.
